How long does a bathroom renovation take?
From one to three days for a refresh to three weeks for a full rework: three scopes of work, three durations.
The duration of a bathroom renovation depends on the scope of the work. Three scenarios exist, from a simple refresh to a structural rework.
The cosmetic refresh: one to three days
In this scenario, bathroom furniture, sanitary fixtures and taps are replaced, and the walls or ceiling are repainted. The tiles stay in place and no structural work is carried out. These jobs generally take one to three days.
New tiles, same layout: eight to ten days
Beyond installing the new furniture and ceramic fixtures, the work includes tiling, demolition, plastering or painting. The plan and the structure remain unchanged: the WC pan and the washbasin stay in place, and the bathtub is not swapped for a shower or the other way round. Allow about eight to ten days for this scenario.
The structural rework: two to three weeks
This level touches the building structure more deeply. The work covers for example:
- moving the WC or the washbasin;
- replacing a bathtub with a shower;
- installing a washlet or new ventilation.
It includes breaking through walls, replacing pipes and installations, and renewing the electrical elements, the heating and the ventilation. A structural renovation takes two to three weeks of work.
